February is a time when we often focus on love in all of the ways it plays out in our hearts and lives.
I am so often inspired by the words and thinking of others, and so this month I wanted to share with you some things that inspire me when I think about love and how we craft it together.
Ursula K. Le Guin: “Love doesn’t just sit there, like a stone, it has to be made, like bread, remade all the time, made new.”
Carter Heyward: “Love is a choice — not simply, or necessarily, a rational choice, but rather a willingness to be present to others without pretense or guile.”
Toni Morrison: “Love is divine only and difficult always. If you think it is easy you are a fool.”
Thich Nhat Hanh: “Because if you do not understand this person, you cannot love properly. Understanding is the essence of love. If you cannot understand, you cannot love. So if we love someone, we should train in being able to listen.”
Elizabeth Alexander: “What if the mightiest word is love?”
What inspires you when you ponder love?
peace and love
