The law can be out of reach for so many, especially those in need and youth, but the Riverside County Bar Foundation works to change that. This non-profit charitable arm of the county’s principal bar association serves communities countywide, including the too-oft-neglected desert areas. Its projects are:
- The Elves, which gives holiday gifts and meals to families in need;
- Project Graduate, which provides mentors and resources to Riverside County Foster youth to help them graduate high school with a plan for the future;
- Citizenship Awards to acknowledge the achievements of local high school students;
- Adopt a High School, which educates students about the legal system.
The important work of the Riverside County Bar Foundation squares with so many of our principles. Worth and dignity are recognized. The actual wheels of justice in the community are on display. Equity and compassion are modeled. Diversity and inclusion are valued. Bottom line, the law becomes a little more in reach for those who may need it most.
