Share the Plate: The UUCOD Gloria Kapp Scholarship 

We will honor Gloria Kapp by renaming the Safe Schools Desert Cities Scholarship that we created last year.  It will become the UUCOD Gloria Kapp Scholarship.

If we raise $500, then donors will match that to fully fund the $1000 scholarship.

For those of you who knew Gloria, she was a tireless human rights advocate across cultural, social and political spectrums.  In her role of Vice President of Safe Schools Desert Cirties and Scholarship Committee Chairperson,  she read hundreds of scholarship applications and selected  20-30 LGBTQ+ students to receive  scholarships each year.

Here at UUCOD Gloria was the co-chair of the Social Justice Committee.  She kept up to date on legislative and voting issues and was our Liaison to Safe Schools Desert Cities.  Her presentations of voting recommendations for ballot issue were well attended with the details clearly laid out.  She was also a guiding force in providing our congregation information for taking action on legislative issues, including the upcoming action on the  John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act.
