For the fifth year, we’re having a Weed Pull Party! These are lots of fun including a chance to socialize, enjoy some music and refreshments, and tend our lovely grounds. In the first year or two we hauled out dead brush and construction debris, fought invasive Saharan mustard, fountain grass and bermuda grass, cleared undergrowth, and removed sand from the sidewalks. Oh, the progress we have made!
Join on any or all of these dates from 8am until noon:
January 9
February 13
March 12
Mostly, we will remove Schismus, the small invasive Mediterranean Grass which chokes out wildflowers. With the nice rains we have had we also have lots of native wildflowers sprouting, like Cyrptantha, Brown Eyes and Desert Marigold. Come and learn how to tell the difference and appreciate the little natives around us. Bring gloves, a kneeling pad and a hula hoe (shuffle hoe) if you have one. See you there!
