Getting Connected

Together, Members and Friends of UUCOD form a community of individuals with diverse thoughts and backgrounds.

We share common beliefs based upon love, social action, peace, and kindness.

We encourage you to participate as an active member of our community to enhance and strengthen the bonds that hold us together.

How Can You Become More a Part of the UUCOD Community?

Introduce Yourself

You will most likely find that the more you participate in church activities, the more friends you will meet and acquire. Simply attending Sunday services frequently will help you become familiar with new people. Come early and then stay for coffee after the service. Introduce yourself to people you have not seen frequently or to church leaders such as committee chairs, board members, etc. And consider introducing yourself to and welcoming new visitors. Ask Members and Friends questions. We love to be helpful.

Join Social Events

Also consider participating social groups such as our drop-in scrabble, create your own crafting group, or special work parties. These are great opportunities to meet new people. Read with our book clubs, join the choir or assist in our Sacred Grounds.   Join Men’s Breakfast or Dining Divas meal groups. Ask Membership about serving as a greeter on Sunday mornings or bring a dish for a potluck meal.

Volunteer

Volunteering with others for the annual auction or yard sale is a great way to meet new people and develop new relationships. If social justice is your passion, consider helping with efforts to support migrant families or for the homeless. We also have social justice projects such as Gay Pride or one of our holiday projects that collects toys for migrant families and gifts for young adults at the Safehouse of the Desert.

Become a Member of a Committee

We encourage all Members and Friends to participate on committees and special interest groups in which they have an interest. Everyone is welcome. If you have a special skill or something you love to do and you are willing to share it, ask someone who you should talk to about donating your time and talents. You will find a welcoming response for your time and talents.
