Coffee and breakfast @ 8:30am, Program @ 9:30 – 11am
Palm Springs Pride annually sponsors this breakfast honoring the memory of Harvey Milk. The breakfast brings together community organizations working for diversity and equality. The proceeds support programs and events for Gay-Straight Alliance clubs and related LGBTQ youth programs in the Coachella Valley.
UUCOD has participated as a sponsoring organization for several years. We have purchased a table for 10. Members and Friends can participate by purchasing a ticket at our table. If you want one of the 4 remaining seats, sign up in the foyer and write a check for $75 payable to UUCOD. Deposit the check in the Treasurers Box in the office.
Harvey Milk was elected to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors in 1977. He became one of the first openly gay men to be elected to political office in the United States. He was assassinated (along with Mayor George Moscone) on November 27, 1978, eleven months after taking office. The example of his life and leadership has made him an important national symbol for the struggle for human rights.
